jtography v3.0
jtography v3.0

I woke up one morning sometime in September, made a cup of coffee and thought "it's time to update the web site again". The mission was to put more of the best content front and centre, improve the look of the online print ordering section and give everybody we've worked with for the year these cool new slideshows... I thought it would take about a week...
Then we had so many iterations of the Between Worlds documentary edit, followed by Coast2Coast and the studio's biggest equipment loss to date (splash!), followed immediately by CHOGM... and now it's Christmas!
So what should have taken a couple of weeks has taken a lot longer. However, finally, we can slap a new homepage on it and call it done - jtography's online home is now officially at version 3.0 - party time!
All of the hard-work (backend print order stuff) and the improved galleries and slideshows have been rolled out over the last few months so it's been the softest launch ever but now we get to have fun with the new home page. In the past we've always struggled with ways to pull attention to the best stories and the newest shoots - putting them at the top of the studio news section and hoping for the best. Time to fix that.
Our new home page features the cover of "jtography magazine" (a most unlikely publication that may even one day make it to the presses). Our goal is to shoot each monthly "issue" in places where you'd find such a mag (doctors office, magazine rack, etc). Then we'll litter the cover of the magazine with links to the best stories inside. The cover shot will simply be one of the most arresting images the studio has produced that month. A chance for jtography shooters to vie for exposure and publicize our crazy in-house contest to see who brings back the best photograph from each event.
Sounds simple enough...
Now here's the fun part. You get to help decide where the magazine turns up for its photo-shoot. Make your suggestions below, and if they fit the design criteria, we'll shoot it! Maybe we'll even put a selection of the best images for each month on FaceBook and let you decide which should be the cover-shot for each month.
The scary part about all of this is that I already know what jtography.com v4.0 is going to look like - in my head - and as soon as I have a few days spare...
We’ve been hard at work - making some big changes under the hood. Where will it end?
